Just as she started to change back to female form, they jumped out and caught her. The old woman as a result became trapped between cat and woman. The spell could not be reversed and she became the Wampus Beast ever since. The Wampus Beast still stalks the hills of West Virginia locals say stealing livestock and terrorizing innocent hill folk. Whether Indian maid or witch, this creature is definitely not something to run across in the dark forests as the moon rises full and bright.
