Wampus Beast /Cat part 2

CONTINUED FROM PART 1: To make a long story short, the locals, suspecting what she was doing, hid themselves in a barn one night to lie in wait for her. Just as she started to change back to female form, they jumped out and caught her. The old woman as a result became trapped between cat and woman. The spell could not be reversed and she became the Wampus Beast ever since. The Wampus Beast still stalks the hills of West Virginia locals say stealing livestock and terrorizing innocent hill folk. Whether Indian maid or witch, this creature is definitely not something to run across in the dark forests as the moon rises full and bright.

Wampus Beast /Cat

Most every location in the Appalachians have heard tales of the Wampus Beast or Wampus Cat. In Northeast Tennessee, it is half woman half cat, all terrorizing, kills animals, steals children and smells like a skunk. It is said that if the Wampus Cat crosses your path it's bad luck. That would have to be the very best you can hope for if you run into this creature. Scary takes of the Wampus Cat have been around for hundreds of years. The Cheerokee called her Ewah. The legend is that a Cheerokee woman who didn't trust her husband decided to follow him on a hunting trip one night. She put on the skin of a mountain lion and crept after him into the woods. When the medicine man found out she had been trying to spy on her husband, he cursed her to forever wear the mountain lion skin. Now her spirit forever roams half cougar half woman. Many white settlers claimed to see the Wampus Cat. In our recent times residents of Knoxville Tennessee and many other towns have reported sightings. They claim it is a cat like beast that walks on it's hind legs and has glowing, hypnotic eyes. The sightings continue even from places like the University of Tennessee campus. One report came from Brunswick County, North Carolina. A few years ago an unknown predator mauled a pit bull and killed two puppies. Residents feared it was the same animal that killed three dogs in September 2007.Animal Control investigated the animal tracks, droppings and other clues but couldn't determine what attacked the dogs. Three inch paw prints were found at the scene. The West Virginia legend of the Wampus Beast is of an old woman who lived by herself in the hills. People called her a witch. Local folks were complaining that their livestock were being hexed and coming up missing. The old woman was blamed They said she would turn herself into a cat and hide until a door was opened. She would dart into the house and wait until the people fell asleep. She would then cast a deep sleeping spell on the farmer and jump out the window to steal livestock.

Sheepsquatch part 2

CONTINUED FROM PART 1: The men realized that one dog was missing. They began to search for it. They found the dog shortly after. To their horror the one hundred plus pound dog was found with its neck snapped like a twig. What could do this to a dog this size they wondered. They decided to search the perimeter to look for any signs or tracks. They hoped to find evidence of any kind pointing to what this may have been. Puzzled at finding nothing, they decided to change locations and spend the next night in a nearby camper on the property. That night as they sat in the camper, something unbelievably strong attacked the camper. Screeching and growling it rocked the camper back and forth. Ramming into it, it nearly turned the camper over. Finally the attack stopped and the unknown creature departed into the woods. The terrified men hurried back to the cabin to load up on ammunition thinking to track the beast and hopefully kill it. They went back into the woods, crossed a cemetery and stepped out into an open field. Once in the middle of the field, both men attest that they came upon a huge white creature. When standing upright, they judged it to be nine foot tall. It had long arms and long claws. At that moment the creature charged them. They said they raised their guns and shot at it but wasn't sure they hit it as it kept coming. The men retreated but after that night they were convinced that they had come in contact with the Sheepsquatch. This cryptid seems little known and many people say it is a hoax. The Appalachian Mountains are the oldest, darkest and strangest range in the United States. Being a native, who is yours truly to pass judgment on what is or isn't real here?

Sheepsquatch

strange name but nonetheless this woolly haired cryptid has been reported across numerous counties in West Virginia and also in Kentucky. West Virginia counties include Boone, Kanawha, Putnam and Mason. There have also been sightings in Breckenridge County, Kentucky .In the 1990s there was an influx of sightings in Boone County, West Virginia. This creature is described as having four legs and is about the size of a bear. It is covered with white woolly fur. It has a head like a dog and long saber teeth. It has a small set of horns like a goat. It has a long hairless tail like a rat or an opossum. People say there is a strong odor to the animal that is skunk like. The eyes are said to be set low in the head, lower than that of a typical mammal. In 1994,two children claimed to have seen a huge whitish monster while playing in their backyard. The children stated that the creature resembled a white bear and that it reared up on it's hind legs. They guessed it to be over six foot tall. This experience terrified the children. However, the beast seemed just as terrified for it ran away crashing through the woods. In 1995,a couple out driving claimed they saw a huge beast squatting in a roadside ditch. They tried to get a better look at the beast. They said it was ashen and about the size and build of a bear. They also said they thought they saw four eyes instead of two. In 1999,a pair of campers set up their camp site near Boone County. As they sat around the camp fire, they began to hear snorting coming from the woods. The men no doubt assumed the noises came from a deer. The beast crashed from the forest into the camp site. It was huge, dingy white and on four legs. The campers fled into the forest and the creature did not chase them but they heard a bone chilling scream coming from the campsite. In Breckenridge County,Kentucky, two men,Ricky Joyce and Dakota Cheeks were on a deer hunting trip in 2004. They went to a mountain cabin owned by Ricky's grandparents to set up base camp for the hunt. That first night in the cabin both claimed to hear strange screaming and growling. The next morning the two went outside and began calling for their hunting dogs.

Kentucky Wolfman part 2

Continued from part 1: If all accounts of these creatures are true and accurate is there a pack or community of them? Perhaps one day solid proof will be obtained and they will cease to be a cryptid and will become an actual documented species. ADDITIONAL SIGHTING: In 1999 a couple in Moorehead Kentucky attempted to photograph what they said were two of these creatures. They were in a clearing near Hwy 60. The couple became frightened however and left before the photograph could be taken. Accounts of this nature are what lead me to believe that there is possibly a pack, community or some type of family unit.

Kentucky Wolfman

Since 1944 folks in rural Kentucky have been reporting sightings of a gigantic wolf like creature that walks upright. This bipedal animal seems to making appearances in several areas of the state. One man described it as looking like a cross between a bear and a gorilla. The sightings seem to come mostly from the flatlands of the state and the eastern mountainous region. Some have described it as having a white or grayish looking coat. It's height seems to be that of an average man according to these reports and of the same proportion. It's hands (?)have long claws and the feet are somewhat like a humans but configured more like a canine. It seems to be very aggressive. In 1944 a boy reported being attacked by this fearsome creature. The boy said he had been fishing and a silver gray wolf like creature came out of the woods and went after the fish he had previously caught. The boy was reported to have been treated for deep cuts from an animal attack and shock. Another report came in 1972. A hunter reported in the hospital that he was attacked from behind by something. He had deep claw marks on his back and legs. He said he did not get a good look at the creature but described what he did see as white or light gray with long fingernails or claws. He said he might have been killed if he had not fallen on the ground and lain very still making the creature think he was dead. There have been several attempts to hunt and kill or capture the creature but it seems to be very elusive and can easily escape those that pursue it. It seems to possess above average canine intelligence. In the 1980s two lawmen were investigating a sighting in the Ashland Cemetery and were cornered by this animal. They said it came within thirty feet of them and paced back and forth growling until it got bored and retreated back into the cemetery. In 2001 a couple were driving down a deserted road in Greenup County. They reported the beast came running down the road toward them. Instead of avoiding the vehicles, it just jumped right over them and went on it's way. In 2005 a man went outside to investigate a strange noise and saw what he thought was a child but realized soon that the three foot tall being was covered in hair and had a snout like a dog. When it saw the man watching it, it made a hasty retreat. This year the team from Mountain Monsters went to Hazleton Kentucky to investigate a very recent sighting. A man out hunting in the woods obtained video footage of the creature walking in the tree line at a distance. The footage showed an upright biped animal a good six or seven feet tall, walking through the woods and disappearing into the tree line. During their visit to Hazleton, other people came forth with accounts of finding tracks. These tracks were larger than an average man's hand and were canine. From the tracks the creature was judged to be in the three hundred fifty pound range! The team set up a steel drop trap and baited it with a live goat to try to capture the animal. Because it possessed an uncanny ability of eluding capture, they found tracks all around the traps triggering mechanism and the goat was not touched. If all accounts are accurate is there a pack or community of them? Perhaps one day solid proof will be obtained and they will cease to be a cryptid and w

Mothman part 2

The Mountain Monsters team from Destination America investigated a recent sighting in Mason County West Virginia. A local resident was out at night near a bridge close to his home and captured video footage of a big glowing eyed creature moving across the bridge. There is a statute of the Mothman in the town of Point Pleasant and every year from September 21st through the 22nd the annual Mothman festival takes place. What is this elusive creature with glowing eyes and spectral powers? How can the multitude of sightings of the Mothman be fabricated? I guess the answer remains to be seen.
